About Space in the Gap

Space in the Gap supports artists, artisans, and small creative businesses by partnering them  with property owners to activate vacant space. Space in the Gap works at the intersection of placemaking, small creative business incubator and cultural production.   Our programs make productive use out of vacant space in “the gap” between permanent tenants.

 SG harnesses the existing and potential energy in communities and innovates new opportunities for collaboration, promotion, and income for artists,  artisans, non-profits, creative businesses, cities, property owners, and community organizations. Gallery SG program is organized by Phantom Galleries LA.  Visual Artist Residency organized by Loiter Galleries.  Since 2005, our affiliated organizations  have served and sustained Southern California’s vibrant artistic community by giving free space to over 9,000 artists and organizations and hosting thousands of free public art events, and reaching an audience of tens of thousands.
